ICT Minister, Bulgarian Counterpart Discuss Exchanging Expertise in Infrastructure, Protection from Cyberattacks


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, on the sidelines of the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19), has received the Bulgarian Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov.

The two sides discussed cooperation and leveraging the two countries’ expertise in the ICT infrastructure and protecting it from cyberattacks. This comes as the two countries seek to harness 5G services, especially in developing industry, establishing smart cities and using the Internet of Things (IoT).

They also discussed the two countries’ efforts in Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as Bulgaria’s privilege as a member of the European Union (EU), and the potential cooperation in data centers. This is in addition to cooperating in applied research using modern technology, such as using AI in areas of common interest, including health, education, environment and others.

Furthermore, the two ministers discussed collaboration to raise the efficacy of youth working in joint applied research.

Talaat presented the efforts of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in digital transformation, particularly in working to provide government services digitally. This is addition to the State’s efforts in building the New Administrative Capital, digitizing the Egyptian government and building capacities to attain these objectives.
