ICT, Social Solidarity Ministers Witness ‘Intaleq’ App for PwDs Launch

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady and the Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali witnessed, today, the launching of “Intaleq” application that can enable People with Disabilities (PwDs) to identify and determine places they need to reach via mobile phones using Android and IOS operating systems.

On his speech delivered on the occasion, ElKady said that the state is keen to harness technology tools and applications to support and enable PwDs. “Intaleq” is a living example of efforts exerted in this area; it embodies the spirit of partnership between civil society and business development institutions and gains the state sponsorship, he added.

He also said that the State recognizes PwDs and holds itself responsible for them in line with the Egyptian Constitution of 2014 for integrating PwDs. Egypt ICT sector plays a significant and influential role in this area through applying the principle of partnership among stakeholders.

ElKady ascertained that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) supports technology innovation efforts to help PwDs through promoting the concept of comprehensive integration in all aspects of life and enjoyment of equal rights and fair opportunities.

The ICT Minister referred to Tamkeen Competition arranged by MCIT, which supports creators and innovators in this area to develop a standardized sign language dictionary, money reader application and wheelchair control via mobile phones.

The ministers honored nearly 30 companies and institutions participated in and contributed to the widespread use of Intaleq application to provide an independent life to PwDs.
