Ministers of ICT, Investment Discuss Boosting Cooperation


The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr has met with the ICT Minister Amr Talaat, during her visit to Smart Village, to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two ministries and agreeing on work plans and joint projects for the technological development of services provided to investors. This cooperation is within the efforts exerted by the government to enhance and create a supportive environment for business and investment.
 
The meeting was attended by Assistant Minister of Investment Amr Abu El-Fotouh, Advisor to Minister of Investment for Investment Map Affairs Malik Fawaz, Senior Advisor to Minister of Investment Moataz Yeken, Advisor to Minister of Investment Mostafa Ghaly, the Vice ICT Minister-Digital Transformation, Automation and Administrative Development Khaled El Attar, and the Undersecretary- International Relations Division at MCIT Nermine El Saadany.

During the meeting, Nasr highlighted the significance of cooperation with MCIT in the automation projects to improve the investment climate, develop an attractive environment for investments and improve Egypt's status in the global reporting indicators. She stated that she is keen to boost cooperation in technology development projects, youth and start-ups support projects and institutional reform and foster coordination to include investment opportunities for the ICT sector in the investment map available on the Ministry of Investment website.
 
For his part, Talaat ascertained that the next phase will witness close cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation through implementing a number of joint projects, the most important of which are the automation of all services provided to investors. A number of regular meetings are to be held between the two ministries to follow up on the agreed plans. He stated that MCIT is implementing a number of cooperation projects aimed at enabling the various ministries to perform their work through the technical expertise MCIT enjoys. He hailed the role of the Ministry of Investment in attracting investments and facilitating the conclusion of agreements between ministries and international institutions.

The meeting reviewed the current situation and the progress of joint cooperation projects between the two ministries, which include the automation of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) services, where many electronic payment channels were made available and the e-signature services were applied internally and among the external agencies, on top of which is the Department of Real Estate at the Ministry of Justice. The meeting, also, discussed a number of projects related to the automation of services provided by investors' service centers and free zones, the provision of specialized technological training programs for capacity building, and the empowerment of employees to perform their duties professionally.
