ICT Minister Visit to Port Said

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat visited Port Said City to open a number of ICT and post projects. He was accompanied by the Governor of Port Said Adel El Ghadban, senior officials from the City, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Telecom Egypt, and the Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO).

The ICT Minister and Port Said Governor held an extensive meeting at Port Said City general bureau. They reviewed the progress achieved in the digital transformation project in Port Said; the implementation of the state asset, property, and real estate wealth system; and the procedures followed in this regard. They also discussed the implementation status of the applications of the digital system for the universal health insurance program in Port Said.

Talaat and El Ghadban started their tour by visiting the School of Intellectual Education in Port Fouad. They were received by the Chairman of the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID) AbdEl-Monem El-Sharkawy and officials from the Ministry of Education and Technical Education in Port Said and from the School. They also visited the new CREATIVA Innovation Hub, which will be established in cooperation with Port Said University.

Moreover, Talaat and El Ghadban opened three post offices: Port Fouad Post Office, Suez Canal Post Office, and Port Said Main Post Office, after being developed and transformed into integrated postal centers that provide all postal services according to the latest technical systems.

Talaat also inspected the work progress at Telecom Egypt stores in Port Said main and Al-Zohour telephone exchanges. He was received by the Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt Adel Hamed, and officials from the company.

Talaat concluded his visit to Port Said City by visiting Nasr Hospital, which has been automated within the universal health insurance project. The aim was to follow up and closely see the work progress in the universal health insurance system. The ICT Minister listened to a detailed explanation from the doctors and those responsible for operating the universal health insurance system in the hospital and a number of patients receiving the service, to check the efficiency of the operation of servers in all stages of the medical process provided to citizens, beginning from home registration and through diagnosis, until receiving the necessary treatment.
