The Game Development Academy at the Information Technology Institute (ITI) is hosting the Global Game Jam (GGJ) 2021, on January 28-31, completely online, as part of the activities of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) - Egypt Chapter, for the 9th consecutive year.

GGJ is the world's largest game jam event taking place around the world. It is a hackathon focused on digital game development, and a space where talented individuals get together to work in a fun atmosphere of creativity and experimentation.

The event aims to stimulate collaboration and encourage people with all types of backgrounds to participate and contribute to this global spread of game development and creativity.

Last year’s event brought together more than 1,500 participants from all over Egypt. More than 70 digital games were developed and uploaded.

It is worth mentioning that ITI site received two Guinness World Records as the largest site with the most participants in a game jam (single location), in 2016 and 2018.
