The Second Interregional Meeting for Preparation of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-20) is organized by the International Telecommunication Union’s Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T), on January 8, as a virtual meeting.
The objective of the interregional meeting is to invite the regions to present the current status of their preparations for WTSA-20.
WTSA is held every four years. It defines the next period of study for ITU-T and aims to refine its strategic direction. The Assembly reviews ITU-T structure, working methods and mechanisms for collaboration with other standards bodies, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), open-source communities, and the many vertical sectors applying ICTs as enabling technologies.
Based in Geneva, the ITU is the leading United Nations agency for ICT, with 191 Member States and more than 700 sector members and associates. ITU role is to enable the global growth and sustained development of ICT. In addition, ITU organizes international telecommunication events, like the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRC).
