The International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) will hold Study Group 2 (Operational aspects of service provision and telecommunications management) meeting at ITU headquarters, Geneva on September 14-23. A tutorial on Numbering, Naming, Addressing and Identification (NNAI) will take place on September 16, aiming to build capacity of participants from developing countries on NNAI issues.
The meeting will tackle the adoption of the agenda and other administrative issues, activities since the last meeting of SG2, and report on Numbering, Naming, Addressing and Identification (NNAI) issues, report on activities related to developing countries, in addition to reports of other meetings and other relevant issues.
Study Group 2 is home to Recommendation ITU-T E.164, the numbering standard which has played a central role in shaping the telecom networks of today. ITU-T E.164 provides the structure and functionality of telephone numbers. In recent years, SG2 has worked on ENUM, an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) protocol for entering E.164 numbers into the Internet domain name system (DNS).
