The Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) organizes today the Swedish-Egyptian ICT Forum in Cairo at Smart Village, in cooperation with the Swedish Embassy in Cairo and Business Sweden.
Under the auspices of the Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy, the forum aims to get acquainted with investment opportunities in Egypt as well as Egypt’s government strategies and policies in this regard.
The Forum is meant to open communication channels between Swedish companies and Egyptian government entities and local companies to highlight investment opportunities and organizational and human capacity for the sector.
The event is characterized by its economic and political significance in that it conveys a message to the European Union, showing Egypt’s stability and readiness to launch more investments and conclude PPP projects. It is also an opportunity to exchange expertise and benefit from the Swedish policies and strategies.
Sweden ICT sector is one of the most prominent sectors worldwide. It is well ranked in the International Economic Forum reports where more than 90% of the population use the internet on regular basis.
The Forum entails three sessions, the first of which showcases Egypt ICT Strategy, while the rest tackle means to create an enabling environment for ICT business and smart cities in both Egypt and Sweden.
More than thirty representatives of the Swedish Embassy in Cairo and the private sector are expected to participate in the event including, among others, Aktavara, Basset, Birdstep Technology, Cybercom.
Representatives of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) also take part in the event, as well as a number of private sector companies and SMEs.
