ITU SG5RG-ARB Discusses e-Waste Management in Kuwait

ITU-T Study Group 5 Regional Group for the Arab Region (SG5RG-ARB) bridging the standardization gap will be held in Kuwait on November 25, 2014.

With the technology advancement nowadays, e-waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world. There is a pressing need to address e-waste management, particularly in developing countries.

The presence of valuable recyclable components attracts informal and unorganized sector. The unsafe and environmentally risky practices adopted by them pose great risks to health and environment.

Study Group 5 Regional Group of the Arab Region members, under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), get together for the second time to share e-waste management practices and get acquainted with other countries policies and strategies.

Egypt participates at the SG5 to present and analyze the national e-waste management practices and strategies. Egypt’s delegation will share some actions to enhance the diffusion of e-waste recycling.
