ATU Organizes Workshop on WTDC-17, PP-18 Outcomes, 1st Preparatory Meeting for WTSA-20


The African Telecommunications Union (ATU) is organizing, on March 4-7, in Rabat, Morocco, a workshop on the implementation of the outcomes of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-17) and the Conference of Plenipotentiaries (PP-18), and the 1st African Group preparatory meeting of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-20).
 
Discussions include the Regional Initiatives (RI) for Africa adopted by WTDC-17, targeting building digital economies, fostering innovation in Africa, promoting emerging broadband technologies, building trust and security in ICT use, strengthening human and institutional capacity building, managing and monitoring the radio-frequency spectrum, and transition to digital broadcasting.
 
Established in 1999, ATU is the leading continental organization that fosters ICT and infrastructure development. It aims at promoting the rapid development of info-communications in Africa to achieve universal access, and full inter-country connectivity. ATU currently has 44 Member States and 16 Associate Members (comprising fixed and mobile telecom operators).
