MCIT launched Tamkeen Competition in 2012 for the development of software and mobile applications to enable PwDs. MCIT seeks to create a new information market to serve more than 15 million Egyptians and 55 million Arab citizens with disabilities, in addition to elderly citizens, providing Arabic AT. MCIT provides technical and financial support for the innovative ideas to turn them into products that serve PwDs.
A number of 300 new technologies—applications and programs— were developed and supported during the previous rounds of the competition.
