Egypt Wins Bronze and Silver Medals in IOI 2010 Held in Canada
Egypt won two medals, one silver and another bronze, in the 22nd International Olympiad of Informatics (IOI) held in Canada from 14-21 August, 2010. This is the first time that Egypt wins a silver medal since the IOI first kicked off in 1989.

This flyer presents an overview of The Arab Internet Safety Portal “Amanak” addressing the issue of online safety in the Arab region. The creation of the AIS was a decision of the 2nd International Executive Board meeting of the Cyber Peace Initiative of the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement in 2009, to bridge a gap in existing Arabic resources and information related to the issue of family online safety.
Educators' Internet Safety Focus Group

In the framework of Cyber Peace Initiative activities, MCIT and the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement, in collaboration with Ministry of Education and other stakeholders, set concepts for safe internet in the educational process. This is achieved by setting and spreading acceptable usage policy, enlisting safe Internet concepts in the educational curricula, and constituting the Educators group; containing members from all the governorates of Egypt.The Educators group aims at raising awareness of safe Internet in schools, training other educators on safe internet usage, and forming a new group of educators, minimizing the gap between the educators and the students, enabling and protecting children, making the best use of ICT tools, and real connection between the digital world and students.

The seventh Annual BSA-IDC Global Software Piracy Study shows how the recession slowed the overall deployment of software, with fewer units deployed worldwide in 2009 than 2008, however, consumers continued to spend on PCs and software. PC shipments to consumers rose 17%, while shipments to businesses, governments and schools dropped by 15%.
