60 contestants participate in the official competition of the 5th EOI that will start 21 August , 2007

this year , a contest for participants with special needs is held. For the first time the contest will include 10 with learning difficulties along with 10 with visual impairment and 10 with hear and speech impairment

This year's contest (2007) will focus on participants with learning difficulties, hear & speech impairment and visual impairment. Participants will be given an opportunity to demonstrate their ability using Microsoft Office, namely word and Power Point, in addition to using the Internet.
Last year, EOI 2006 dedicated part of its activities to visually impaired participants to read printed books and documents as well as electronic files on their own in both the Arabic and English languages, in Braille text. Visually impaired participants were also able to access the Internet and read Arabic and English website content, in addition to sending , receiving, writing and reading e-mails.
