The Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics 2007
The Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics(EOI) is an annual competition in information technology and programming held under the patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). This year, the governorate of Cairo will host the final contest for EOI 2007 from 21 to 27 August 2007 at Mubarak city under the supervision of MCIT’s Human Resources Development and Training Programs Department, in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and ministry of education.
The highest ranking contestants of the EOI qualify to take part in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), one of the most recognized computer science competitions in the world. The nature of competition is basically algorithmic. However, contestants have to exhibit basic IT skills like problem analysis, design of algorithms and data structures, programming and testing. The winners of IOI’s final competition are considered among the best young computer scientists in the world.
This year, participants from almost 80 countries will take part in the IOI hosted in Zagreb, Croatia, from August 15 to 22,2007.
