The first industrial revolution began in Britain in the late 18th century, with the mechanization of the textile industry. The second industrial revolution came in the early 20th century, when Henry Ford mastered the moving assembly line and ushered in the age of mass production. The first two industrial revolutions made people richer and more urban. Now a third revolution is under way. Manufacturing is going digital. This could change not just business, but much else besides.

American Study: Internet Will Be the 5th Most Powerful Economy in 2016

A new American study, released by Boston Consulting Group reports that Internet is to be ranked the 5th powerful economy in the world by 2016 thanks to the quantum leap achieved in smart phone applications and social networks. The study also explains that Internet, therefore, will deprive the German economy from its rank as the 5th most powerful economy after the USA, China, Japan and India.
