This involves the amendment of a number of existing laws to promote political openness and protect freedom of expression, and the preparation, drafting and activation of a number of new laws and regulations covering areas including freedom of information, cybersecurity and e-commerce. Through all these efforts, and in partnership with local, regional and international stakeholders, MCIT aims to continue to support a thriving Egyptian ICT sector and to promote sustainable development across all sectors at this critical juncture in Egypt’s history. 178 179
