Meanwhile, Minister Kamel toured the initiative’s exhibition held on the sidelines of the celebration where 16 computer companies offered cooperatively with five internet service providers (ISP)s and four banks integrated packages for ADSL connection and PCs and loans for buying computers. Dr. Kamel stated that Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is keen on spreading IT and internet tools amongst different social segments nationwide, while giving a priority to upper Egyptian governorates, remote areas and low-income brackets. By this, he added, MCIT aspires to address the Egyptian families; information needs.
Kamel noted that in order to make the initiative succeed and help the partnering Computer and Software Department do its job, MCIT, through its specialized departments, will design and operate the required electronic systems to register the contracts and subscriptions of the initiative clients and follow up on the regularity of payment in collaboration with the funding banks and Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO).
MCIT, he added, will also facilitate 31 model outlets at technology clubs in all governorates.
The opening of the model outlet comes in the framework of the cooperation agreement signed last August in Alexandria between MCIT, ENPO and Computer and Software Department on spreading "PC for Every Home Initiative" nationwide.
Based on the agreement, the department will undertake the responsibility of coordination and executive management for putting the initiative into force and contributing to the spread of computers and internet usage among Egyptian families nationwide.
The offers provided by the initiative in the upcoming phase include integrated packages of PCs and three-year ADSL subscriptions.
