Dr. Kamel Witnesses First Annual Meeting of Hardware SMEs

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel witnessed on Monday, 18 January 2010 the first Annual Meeting of Hardware Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME)s.
A total of 300 companies from all governorates took part in the meeting. These companies are members in Computer and Software Department at Federation of Egyptian Chamber of Commerce.
Eng. Khalil Hasan Khalil, Head of Federation's Computer and Software Department, noted that the meeting aimed to gather SMEs nationwide, which are chamber members, to establish a strong network capable of facing challenges and crisis.
A cooperation agreement was signed, throughout the meeting, between the Computer and Software Department at Federation of Egyptian Chamber of Commerce and Cairo's Khadamati Company and Alexandria's Khadamatak Company. The agreement lies within "A PC for Every Home Initiative."
Another purpose of the meeting, Eng. Khalil added, was to provide these companies with new untraditional solutions that are likely to contribute to their expansion and calibers' skill development. Such tools will in turn help raise the companies' performance.
Among the other targets of the meeting, Eng. Khalil said, were to tackle other issues important to the community including recycling harmful electronics like computers, monitors, mobile phones and batteries, batteries of videogames and other electronic devices.
The event involved two panel discussions. The first discussion was attended by Dr .Kamel, honoring a number of officials who contributed to overcoming obstacles, offering services to the department.
Amongst the honored figures were General Anwar Helmy, Advisor to the Minister for Minister's Office and Administrative Development, Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) CEO Dr. Hazem Abdelazim, and Vice Executive President of ITIDA Dr. Sherif Hashem.
During the second panel discussion, Dean of Faculty of Commerce Dr. Khalid Hanafy highlighted the World Financial Crisis and its aspects as well as human resource development. The discussion also shed light on "PC for Every Home" initiative in its new model.
Some other sessions covered the subject of recycling electronics as well as some recommendations and complaints of companies operating in the field.
The participating companies were mobilized through public leaderships in Egyptian provinces. Amongst the participants were 40 companies from Assuit, 30 ones from Alexandria, Port Said, Dakahlia, Damietta and Gharbia and 10 from Aswan. |
