    TE, Orange, Etisalat Launch Initiative to Provide Ventilators, Medical, Preventive Supplies to Isolation Hospitals

    Telecom Egypt (TE), Orange and Etisalat Misr have launched an initiative for supporting the health sector and isolation hospitals, through providing 12 ventilators, as well as medical and preventive supplies, sanitization and protection tools, to cover the needs of 200 medical staff members for a month, to keep them safe as they do their jobs.

    This comes within the framework of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaatís directives pertaining to supporting the stateís comprehensive plan for overcoming Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and making available the necessary supplies, to enable the health sector to provide healthcare services, in light of COVID-19 repercussions and the pursuit of curbing its spread.

    The supplies provided include preventive clothing, medical masks, face and head shields, medical gloves and other necessary supplies.

    The ICT Minister underscored that the ICT sector spares no effort in supporting the health sector during the exceptional circumstances that Egypt is going through, with facing the spread of COVID-19. He added that the aforementioned initiative is part of the initiatives launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), since the start of the crisis, for supporting the health system.

    MCIT took a number of prompt measures to support the health system and sector, in light of COVID-19 repercussions, in coordination with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and the telecommunication operators in Egypt. This included adding 200 additional seats in TE branches hosting the service of answering citizensí inquiries, to increase the capacity of receiving calls on the hotlines dedicated to the Ministry of Health and Population, numbers 105 and 15335, as well as directing for enabling access to these numbers through landline and mobile, completely free of charge.

    This is in addition to granting 3,000 minutes and 10 gigabytes, for all mobile networks, for free, to all the doctors, nursing staff, executives and workers at the isolation hospitals of COVID-19 patients, nationwide.
