    ICT Minister Inspects ENPO Outlets to Ensure ‘Takaful and Karama’ Disbursement Runs Smoothly

    Cairo, 18 April 2020

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat took, today, an inspection including a number of Postal Services Centers and schools, to make sure the support of Takaful and Karama Cash Transfer Program is disbursed to citizens smoothly, without congestion.

    The ICT Minister was accompanied by the Acting Chairman of Egypt National Post Organization (ENPO) Abdo Elwan.

    The tour included Lebanon Square Postal Services Center, Sheikha Jawaher Schools and Nasiriyah Preparatory School in Giza. This is in addition to Misr El Qadima Postal Services Center and the Integrated Technology Center for Citizen Services in Al-Asmarat, in Cairo.

    During the tour, Talaat stated that ENPO is a key outlet for rendering governmental and financial services. He added that the concerted efforts of the state sectors aim to facilitate disbursing Takaful and Karama support through 4,000 post offices nationwide, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

    This is in addition to coordinating with the Ministry of Local Development and the Ministry of Education to dedicate around 600 schools to serve as additional disbursement outlets, to avoid congestion in post offices. This comes within the framework of the precautionary measures that target curbing the spread of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and keeping employees, citizens and post customers, nationwide, safe.

    The ICT Minister listened to the views and suggestions of the citizens at the Postal Services Centers and disbursement outlets, assuring them that all necessary measures have been taken to make sure the support is disbursed to citizens as smoothly and properly as possible.

    This in in addition to extending the working hours at main post offices nationwide to include an evening shift, from 1 to 3 pm, to avoid congestion.

    For his part, Elwan said that ENPO has taken all the necessary precautionary measure to curb  the spread of COVID-19 and keep employees and customers safe, especially during the disbursement process.

    He added that the beneficiaries of Takaful and Karama have been apportioned as follows: Karama beneficiaries shall receive their support on Saturday and Sunday, while those of Takaful shall receive their support on Tuesday and Wednesday. Beneficiaries who did not receive their support on the mentioned days should visit the post office starting from Aril 23, to avoid congestion.

    Elwan also said that ENPO calls on all the beneficiaries to avoid congestion at post offices, abide by the disbursement schedule and leave safe distances.
