On Irregular Employment Aid Disbursement Third Day, ICT Minister Inspects Work at ENPO Outlets in Cairo, Giza

    Cairo, 15 April 2020

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat took, today, an inspection tour in a number of Egypt National Post Organization (ENPO) outlets, in Cairo and Giza. The aim is to ensure that the disbursement of the irregular employment aid, decided by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to those suffering the repercussions of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), is running smoothly.

Talaat also made sure that the service was rendered as efficiently as possible, and that all the citizens’ problems were being solved, according to the plan that includes a number of preventive and precautionary measures for keeping citizens, post employees and customers safe.

The ICT Minister was accompanied by ENPO Acting Chairman Abdo Elwan.

The tour included El Ahram, Giza 1, El Rabea El Gizy Postal Services Centers and Aziz Al Masry School in Giza. Talaat also inspected El Sayeda Zeinab Postal Services Center and El Khedeweya Secondary School for Boys, in Cairo.

On Monday, ENPO started disbursing the EGP 500 aid, provided as a support for irregular employment, through 4,000 post offices nationwide and 600 schools dedicated as additional disbursement outlets, in coordination with the Ministry of Local Development and the Ministry of Education.

Each beneficiary receives an Egypt Post pre-paid EasyPay card, to be used for receiving the aid for two months, starting from next month. This comes within the framework of Egypt Post’s pivotal role in supporting the state’s efforts to attain digital transformation and financial inclusion.

Moreover, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) launched the 142 Hotline service, to immediately start responding to the inquiries of the aid beneficiaries and provide them with information on the disbursement schedule and outlets.

The ICT Minister took an inspection tour on the first days of the aid disbursement, including 10 post offices, a number of schools and branches of the Agricultural Bank of Egypt (ABE), in Cairo, Giza Qalyubia and Menoufia Governorates.
