ICT Minister Follows-up Second Phase of April Pension Disbursement through Post Offices

    Cairo, 5 April 2020

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat followed up, today, the work on the first day of the second phase of April pension disbursement through post offices nationwide. The phase is dedicated for pensioners of over EGP 1,000, up to 2,000.

Talaat communicated with Egypt National Post Organization (ENPO) Acting Head Abdo Elwan to make sure citizens have access to the service throughout the day, with no congestion in post offices. This comes within the framework of the plan targeting protecting the health and safety of citizens and post employees nationwide.

It also comes according to the mechanism of the Ministry of Social Solidarity that provides for apportioning pensioners on different weekdays to avoid congestion at disbursement outlets, as a precautionary measure to face Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and curb its spread.

ENPO declared a number of precautionary and preventive measures to ensure leaving safe distances between citizens and avoid overcrowding, as pensions disbursed through 4,000 post offices nationwide. Work in 2,000 main post offices has also been extended to include an evening shift, from 1 to 3 pm.

This is in addition to coordinating with the Ministries of Education, Youth and Sports and Local Development for dedicating around 433 schools and 126 youth centers to serve as pension disbursement outlets, nationwide, beside post offices.

On April 1,2 and 4, ENPO disbursed April pensions up to EGP 1,000. The second phase, dedicated for pensioners whose pensions range from over EGP 1,000 and up to 2,000, started today and will end on April 7. Pensioners of more than EGP 2,000 are scheduled to receive their payments on April 8 and 9.
