    ICT Minister Confirms Taking All Necessary Measures to Facilitate Pension Disbursement through Post Offices Nationwide

    Cairo, 1 April 2020

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has underlined that all necessary measures have been taken to facilitate pension disbursement through post offices, nationwide.

    This comes in light of the plan targeting reducing congestion in post offices, and according to the mechanism of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, pertaining to apportioning pensioners on different weekdays to avoid congestion during pension disbursement.

    Talaat stated that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has coordinated with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Local Development, for dedicating around 433 schools and 126 youth centers to serve as pension disbursement outlets, nationwide, beside post offices.

    The aim is to avoid overcrowding and reduce congestion in post offices, and keep safe distances between citizens.

    In addition, follow-up commissions have been formed in different areas and governorates, to follow up on the situation in post offices and pension disbursement outlets, on regular basis.

    The commissions shall also work to solve problems facing pensioners during disbursement.
    Egypt National Post Organization (ENPO) has taken several precautionary measures that aim to curb the spread of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and keep post employees and customers, nationwide, safe and healthy, stated ENPO Acting Head Abdo Elwan.

    ENPO is also calling on all citizens to avoid overcrowding at post offices and pension disbursement outlets, to have services done, especially during this period. This is in addition to keeping safe distances between each other, to avoid congestion during pension disbursement, and take advantage of the extension of working hours at main post offices, accounting to nearly 2,000 offices nationwide, until evening, from 1 to 3 pm, Elwan added.

    Furthermore, the National Authority for Social Insurance adopted a plan for disbursing April pension, providing for apportioning pensioners on different days in the first week of April. This is to keep pensioners safe and reduce the number of visitors at pension disbursement outlets, as a precautionary measure to face COVID-19.

    According to the plan, pensioners of EGP 1,000 or less shall receive their pensions from the National Authority for Social Insurance’s outlets, post offices and ATM machines, on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, April 1,2 and 4.

    Pensioners of more than EGP 1,000 and up to 2,000, shall receive their pensions on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, April 5,6 and 7; whereas pensioners of more than EGP 2,000 shall receive their pensions on Wednesday and Thursday, April 8 and 9. Those who fail to receive their pensions within the agreed schedule, shall receive them later.
