    ICT Minister Follows Up on Telecommunication Services Regularity Amid Bad Weather

    Cairo, 12 March 2020

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat is following up on the regularity of telecommunication services and how affected they are by the wave of bad weather hitting the country.

    Talaat has communicated with the Executive President of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) Hossam El-Gamal. An operations room has been set up at NTRA, in collaboration with the telecommunication companies. The room works throughout the day and for the next 72 hours to monitor the impact of bad weather on mobile networks and landline, and face any breakdowns or malfunctions in telecommunications services. In addition, NTRA citizen complaints center is fully functional.

    The ICT Minister has also communicated with Telecom Egypt (TE) CEO Adel Hamed to check the service regularity and the readiness of TE technical teams and crisis management unit to intervene rapidly to fix malfunctions as they happen. This is in addition to checking the readiness of TE customer service center to receive and resolve citizensí complaints as quick as possible.
