    ICT Minister in Silicon Valley Visit Says Targeting Caliber Empowerment, Software and Smart Solutions Center

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady has met with Honeywell Vice President and General Manager, Smart Energy Americas - Electricity and Water Gary Bennett, where they agreed to sign a cooperation protocol in Cairo in the coming weeks. The cooperation protocol entails the manufacturing of smart meters in Egypt to be disseminated in the new Administrative Capital, and a center for developing software and smart solutions, in addition to establishing a training center in one of the technology parks in Egypt.
    Honeywell is one of the global leading multi-disciplinary technology and manufacturing companies, and one of Fortune 100 best companies. It offers its customers around the world outstanding products and services in the field of aviation and space technology, techniques and systems for controlling buildings, homes and Industrial sectors.
    ElKady has also held a meeting with Visa International President Ryan McInerney, where they discussed the company’s knowledge in financial inclusion. The ICT Minister deliberated efforts exerted to increase the number of beneficiaries from electronic financial services, and efforts employed by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to develop the infrastructure necessary to disseminate financial inclusion applications, thereby improving the experience of the Egyptian market in terms of digital payments and associated services.
    Moreover, ElKady paid a visit to the innovation center at Visa headquarters, where he learnt about the latest products of the company's digital payments and global trends that contribute to achieving financial inclusion.
    The ICT Minister has also met with Andrew Zimmerman, the President of Sutherland Digital—a world leading company in exporting technological services. The company is to receive a number of Egyptian entrepreneurs, developers and designers at its headquarters in Silicon Valley where it will provide them with training on the latest methods of digital transformation for institutions, big data analysis and outsourcing services.
    Sutherland Digital develops and implements plans and strategies for the digital transformation for its customers, and offers a range of solutions and services including consultation, big data analysis and service platforms. Sutherland Digital is one of the world's largest companies operating in exporting technology services and outsourcing.
