    ICT Minister, Tomtom Delegation Discuss Investment Opportunities

    Cairo, 23 November 2016

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady has received a delegation from "Tomtom", a global company operating in the industry of digital maps software and navigation devices, where the company expressed its interest in investing in Egypt.

    During the meeting, ElKady has reviewed the technical and economic elements of the ICT sector along with the excellence of youth calibers in ICT areas that encouraged the company to have presence in Egypt as a destination for the expansion of its business. The ICT sector in Egypt enjoys many advantages, including the availability of a number of motivating factors that attract global companies and the support provided by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) such as the provision of technologically qualified personnel, the training and the incentive packages especially in the new technology parks of Borg El Arab and Assiut.

    The ICT Minister also pointed to the advantages of technology parks sites which are located near universities, involving centers for technological innovation, entrepreneurship and training. He also added that thousands of youth calibers are graduating annually from the faculties of engineering, computing and information technology and other areas that have a direct relationship to technology.

    Tomtom delegation expressed the companyís interest in the development of the company's activities in Egypt and the support of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in providing technological calibers. The Company sees great and positive opportunities in the field of software and digital maps development.

    Tomtom is a leading global company in pinpointing locations via satellites, and is currently working to introduce and provide navigation services for self-driving cars, fitness and sports activities equipment. It employs about 4,000 employees worldwide and its products are available in more than 41 countries.
