    ICT Minister Inspects Work Developments in Borg Al-Arab Technology Park

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady has inspected work developments in Borg Al Arab Technology Park in Alexandria (30 feddans), which will be completed in less than a year according to the planned schedule. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had earlier commissioned the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to implement two technology parks. Mr President announced, during Cairo ICT 2015, they would be completed in a time frame less than a year.

    During the visit to the site, ElKady underlined the need to adhere to the timeline set for implementing the project, which represents a cultural shift that provides promising job opportunities for Alexandria youth and the surrounding governorates. In addition, it will provide excellent training opportunities for young people on all technological programs related to the needs of the local and international markets.

    The minister added that he is following up on the implementation phases of the project while reviewing its technical details. He pointed out that all administrative procedures, needed, to establish the joint-stock company that will develop, implement and manage the technological parks, have been completed.
    The phases that have been completed in the project include the excavation works in the sites of first phase buildings, soil replacement and concrete casting. Currently, the excavation works for a citizen-service building is being completed. Reinforced concrete is being prepared for a number of buildings, such as shops, health services building, outsourcing building and a mosque.
    The first phase includes facilities for citizen services, banks, shops, training, innovation and entrepreneurship, outsourcing, companies, infrastructure, district administration, fences and gates, a mosque and product distribution outlets (supermarkets).

    The study of technological parks implementation started on 19 November 2015, followed by a review of the detailed feasibility studies presented by specialized Egyptian consulting offices in this area. The general plan of the two technology parks in Borg Al Arab and Asyut were then developed. This in addition to the design of the first phase buildings in both parks, whether the architectural design of external interfaces, or the structural design of buildings.
    Expanding technological parks nationwide is one of the leading developmental national projects that MCIT through the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).

    Technology parks are being prepared and equipped to receive all activities involved in the ICT areas and its technology-related service activities, such as IT and outsourcing services, IT designing and programming, electronics assembly industries, training and education centers, IT development zones / innovation and entrepreneurship and public services which include a government services center.

    Technological parks helps in raising capabilities and skills of employees and university graduates and those with intermediate qualifications from all disciplines to work in call centers, technical support centers and electronics designing and manufacturing.

    The parks also provide a competitive operating cost for investors and a stimulating work environment, representing a promising investment opportunity in the sector's activities, creating jobs and providing training at the highest level in the industry. The State aims through those parks to establish Egypt's status as a distinguished regional center in the ICT areas.
    Seven technology parks are due to be implemented nationwide in Borg Al Arab in Alexandria (30 feddans), Sadat city -Menofia (50 feddans), the Tenth of Ramadan City- Sharkia (85 feddans), New Beni Suef city - Beni Suef (50 feddans), New Assiut city- Assiut (44 feddans), New Aswan city- Aswan (41 feddans) and Damietta.
