    ICT Minister, Palestinian Counterpart Discuss Cooperation in ICTs

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has received the Palestinian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Ishaq Sider, in his office in Smart Village.

    At the beginning, Talaat underlined the depth of ties between Egypt and Palestine at all levels, and the historical relations between the two countries. The two sides also discussed the significance of enhancing cooperation in ICT.

    For his part, the Palestinian Minister expressed his appreciation of the Egyptian experience in ICT, especially in light of the Palestinianís Minister visit to Egypt at the end of July to attend the meeting of the Executive Bureau of the Arab Telecommunications and Information Council of Ministers (ATICM) that Talaat headed.

    The Palestinian Minister commended the work model in Egypt Post and the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), as well as the development achieved in telecommunication regulation.

    Moreover, the two sides discussed providing training through the training institutes affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), bolstering telecommunication regulation in Palestine, and exploring the leading Egyptian experience in this field.

    They also discussed cooperation in technological innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as supporting the Palestinian side in relevant international events, particularly in light of Egyptís hosting of the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19). Talaat highlighted the significance of supporting Palestine and providing the necessary support in ICT.

    On the other hand, the Palestinian side emphasized their keenness on attaining the Arabís support to join the Universal Postal Union (UPU), and discussed parcels management system.

    At the end of the meeting, the two sides ascertained their eagerness to reform the avenues of cooperation within the framework of a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that the two ministers shall sign at the earliest convenience.

    The visit comes on the sidelines of the Palestinian Ministerís visit to Egypt as part of the ministerial delegation accompanying the Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh.
