    ICT Minister Actively Participates in Gitex 2015 Second Day

    Cairo, 19 October 2015

    The Minster of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady has actively participated in Gitex 2015 for the second day, where he has met with UAE Minister of State Sultan Al Jaber and discussed numerous topics of mutual interest in ICT areas.

    The discussions also tackled assessing the national initiative "Training for Employment", implemented in Egypt in cooperation with UAE, the sister country, aiming to train job seekers in the Egyptian market.

    During the meeting, the parties discussed available investment opportunities in the ICT sector in accordance with priorities set forth by the Egyptian government in the coming period. Al Jaber expressed his intention to visit Egypt soon to discuss ways of activating the projects that have been agreed upon during the talks.

    At the conclusion of the meeting, Al Jaber has praised the excellent and deep relations between the two nations, adding that cooperation between UAE and Egypt has deep roots, and reflects well-established and strong relationships.

    Moreover, ElKady has met with Dubai Internet CEO Malek Sultan Al Malek where they discussed activating the role of innovation centers and ways to invest in them, especially the center of innovation and creation set to be established in Airport City. This is in addition to technology parks planned to be established in different parts of Egypt to provide excellent job opportunities for youth and the large number of fresh graduates from universities. The discussions also touched on the subject of the diffusion of technological industries.

    Dubai Internet owns about 11 cities in Dubai Internet City. Al Malek is due to pay a visit to Egypt soon to discuss activating joint cooperation between the two countries in related topics.

    In a related context, the ICT Minister conducted, yesterday afternoon, an inspection visit to the voting committee office of Egyptians in the Egyptian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE, during which he was accompanied by Egypt’s Ambassador to UAE Wael Gad.

    ElKady was reassured about the committee’s work process, especially the automatic reader system carried out by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology(MCIT) in cooperation with the High Election Committee (HEC). MCIT provided 2000 automatic readers for the national Identity Cards (ID) and prepared and equipped a central information center at HEC office with servers, applications and network and security systems. This is in addition to equipping a control room and a communications center to receive complaints and communicate with electoral committees.
