    ICT Minister Convenes with UAE Deputy Premier, Economy Minister to Discuss Investments and Smart Government Apps

    The Minister of communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady met, today, during Gitex 2015, with UAE Deputy Prime Minister Saif  bin Zayed Al Nahyan where they discussed a number of issues of common interest on top of which is mutual cooperation between the two countries.

    During the meeting, AlKady praised close relations between the two countries in various fields. On his part, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his appreciation for the leading role that Egypt plays in the region and paid tribute to the leadership and Egyptian people. The meeting was also attended by the Egyptian Ambassador to UAE Wael Gad.

    On the sidelines of his participation in the Edition (35) of "GITEX Technology Week 2015" which was inaugurated today in Dubai, ElKady held a meeting with UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri to discuss ways to increase cooperation and investment between the two countries in a number of areas related to the ICT.

    This is in addition to exchanging experiences to gain access to best practices to support smart-government applications and take advantage of the UAE experience in this regard as an important step towards becoming a digital society and promoting technology within the state’s administrative apparatus.

    During the meeting, the ICT minister showcased the Egyptian  experience in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, representing a very important sector for the Egyptian economy. He also referred to the strategic key role played by the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) in Smart Village to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.

    ElKady tackled efforts of the Egyptian government that aims to facilitate procedures,  create an appropriate environment for investment and protect intellectual property rights,. He called on the UAE government to participate in the center of creativity and innovation planned to be set up in the new airport city.

    Al Mansouri expressed optimism for the Egyptian economy, which possesses a large number of opportunities for growth in light of launching giant economic projects, among which are the new Suez Canal and the logistics area, the discovery of new gas fields and others. He highlighted the strong partnership between the two countries in all fields, pointing out that there are still many future opportunities for joint cooperation to achieve mutual benefit. He also said that Egypt's stability meant the stability of the Arab region.

    The Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurated, this morning, Gitex Technology Week 2015, and visited the Egyptian pavilion where he was received by the Egyptian ICT Minister Yasser ElKady. The Egyptian pavilion comprises 25 exhibitors and 40 representatives of visiting companies, under the auspices of the of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).

    GITEX Technology Week is the largest event in the ICT field in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. Its edition 35 is currently taking place in Dubai during the period 18 -22 October under the theme: "The Future of the Internet of Everything" where more than 3900 exhibiting companies are taking part in the event. This is in addition to 143000 visitors and 2000 executives from 144 countries to display the latest technologies in this industry and hold extensive discussions on ways of developing them. The current edition discussions are due to focus on innovation and rapid development that the "Internet of Everything” witnesses.
