    ICT Minister Witnesses Signing Agreement between TE, Huawei

    China, 8 August 2019

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, on the sidelines of his participation in BRICS Future Network Innovation Forum in China, has witnessed the signing of an agreement between Telecom Egypt (TE) and Huawei.

    The aim is to provide modern communication use models, and Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications. This is in addition to establishing a joint technology training center and an innovation lab that will help developers conduct test operations on telecommunication networks, and train young people, engineers, and technicians in this field.

    According to the agreement, Huawei will provide the needed software, hardware, and ICT training courses. TE, on the other hand, will equip the lab with the necessary means of communication.

    The agreement was signed by TE CEO and Managing Director Adel Hamed, and Huawei Egypt CEO Vincent Sun.

    Moreover, the ICT Minister met with Huawei officials, headed by Executive Director David Wang. They discussed the companyís investment plans and its future cooperation opportunities to boost its investments in Egypt.

    The two sides agreed that Huawei will provide training programs for Egyptian youth, in collaboration with the training institutes and affiliates of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), including the Information Technology Institute (ITI), the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).

    During the meeting, Huawei presented its Fifth Generation (5G) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, in areas such as agriculture and healthcare. The two sides, also, discussed cooperation in advanced communication technologies and their various applications.

    The meeting was attended by ITIDA Vice President Hossam Osman and a number of MCIT officials.
