    Cairo, 16 July 2019

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Executive Vice President and Head of International Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (USCC) in Washington Myron Brilliant, and a number of USCC officials.

They discussed establishing partnerships between the private sectors in the two countries in ICTs, leveraging American expertise in the technical field, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Egyptian entrepreneurs.

During the meeting, Talaat commended the important role that USCC plays to support the fruitful partnership between Egyptian and American ICT companies, in light of the distinguished ties between the two countries at all levels, and the Egyptian ICT sectorís adequacy to strengthen bilateral ties and achieve constructive partnership through increasing the number of American companies in Egypt, thus largely contributing to boosting investments and job opportunities to stimulate economic growth.

In addition, Egyptís efforts in raising efficacy of the ICT infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for investments through implementing legislative reforms and providing a bundle of privileges for investors, were discussed during the meeting.

Discussions included means of cooperation between the two countries in increasing skilled and professional personnelís efficiency in various technological fields.

The two sides, also, discussed cooperation in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the framework of the initiatives that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) implements, in addition to discussing the mechanisms of cooperation in digital transformation.

The USCC officials praised the successful economic reform program and acknowledged Egyptís achievements, and stated that the Vice Presidentís visit to Egypt comes to assert that.

Moreover, the visit comes as a follow up to the outcomes of the previous meetings held by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during his visit to Washington this year, with the aim to present the roadmap of the USCC program to leverage investment opportunities and support the presence of the American business community in Egypt, and the keenness to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries, in line with Egyptís current plans.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for Human and Institutional Capacity Development and Acting CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Hala El Gohary, ICT Ministerís Advisor for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Golestan Radwan, Director of the International Relations Division at MCIT Mohamed El Gawsaky, Senior Vice President for Middle East and Turkey Affairs at USCC in Washington Khush Choksy, Vice President for Middle East Affairs at USCC and Executive Director of US-Egypt Business Council Steve Lutes, CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham Egypt) Sylvia Menassa, and AmCham Egypt Inc.
