    ITI Holds Two Workshops for ICANN

    Cairo, 4 April 2015

    The Information Technology Institute (ITI) is organizing two workshops for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and its significance on the Internet during the period of March 29 until April 9 in Smart Village.

    The two workshops were attended by 50 concerned people in Egypt, Africa and the Arab world representing Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Benin, Djibouti and Kenya in Africa. This is in addition to Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq, as well as representatives from Egyptian companies and organizations.

    The first workshop entitled “Developing Business in Domain Names Field” discussed important means to promote the domain names industry and latest international methods to stimulate reserving those names and expand the scope of the industry. This is in addition to opening the door for entrepreneurs to make a profit.

    The lectures were delivered by American expert Thomas Barrett, a prominent figure in the field of domain names and the head of a global pioneering American company, and Irish expert Michael Neelon who is the head of one of the leading European companies for reserving domains names and providing various Internet services.

    Delivered by European expert Giovanni Sibiya, the second workshop entitled “Success Stories in the field of Domain Names” tackled pillars on which a relationship is built between service providers and customers.

    It also addressed key international success stories in setting appropriate frameworks and policies. This is in addition to discussing technical and technological aspects related to developing the industry of domain names in Egypt, as well as offering tips and guidance to support developing this industry on the local level in the African and Arabic markets.
