    ICT, Housing Ministers Agree on Including Fiber Optic Cables for Homes and New Buildings as Construction Requirements

    Cairo, 14 March 2019

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has stated that he has agreed with the Minister of Housing, Utilities & Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar on including fiber optic cables for homes and new buildings all over Egypt, as one of the construction requirements, as well as updating the Egyptian building code to include the communication networks code, which entails standard specifications for the communications infrastructure.
     
    He added that this comes in the framework of the infrastructure development and in accordance with the overall plan of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to develop the Internet service and boost its speed all over Egypt, thus achieving social and economic development and covering the citizensí needs of high-speed Internet.
     
    MCIT gives high priority to the development and modernization of infrastructure and communication networks, to serve the transition to a digital society and ensure providing governmental digital services to the citizens.
