    ICT Minister Meets Eritrea Ambassador to Discuss Cooperation in ICTs

    Cairo, 5 March 2019

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Eritrean Ambassador to Egypt Fasil Takla to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two countries in ICT. They highlighted the historical relationship between Egypt and Eritrea on many levels, as part of the coordination and joint work under the umbrella of the African Union (AU).

    Egypt is eager to enhance cooperation with African sister countries to achieve development and integration in ICT, especially in conjunction with Egyptís chairmanship of AU, followed by a group of initiatives, stated Talaat.

    He referred to the African cooperation initiative implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to establish a strategic partnership with the African countries to achieve digital transformation all over Africa. This will help rationalize state resources, improve the quality of services provided to citizens, fight against corruption and achieve social justice. He also presented areas of Egyptian-African cooperation in capacity building and enabling access to information.

    Takla highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation with Egypt in ICT, leveraging expertise in digital capacity building and cooperating with Egypt to achieve the digital transformation in Africa.
