    - MCIT Holds Introductory Session before Launching Tamkeen Competition

    In the framework of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) preparations for launching competition two of Tamkeen for the second consecutive year, it will hold an introductory session on October 24  about tools, software and mobile phones applications for enabling people with disabilities.

    The session will be attended by a number of specialists in the field of technologies for the disabled, besides companies and universities students. People with various disabilities have also largely participated to get acquainted with their needs and open communication channels with the specialized developers who can help them, through technology, to answer their daily needs.

    The session is an introductory one being held before launching Tamkeen competition for software and mobile phones applications for people with disabilities, year 2013.

    The competition, this year, is launched in cooperation with the Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF) affiliated with the Ministry of Scientific Research.

    Within the same context, a joint committee will be created comprising MCIT and STDF officials to select winning projects presented by individuals and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The committee will also identify the prizes’ values for each winning project to transform the idea to a product, in order to be diffused in the market.

    The competition was firstly launched in October 2012, in cooperation with the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC). Six software projects won and they are now being funded by MCIT to be available in the markets for people with disabilities nationwide.

    MCIT undertakes this annual competition based on its social responsibility towards people with disabilities; and to support young Egyptian talents, start-ups and SMEs with innovative ideas in the fields of disabilities.
