    ICT Minister Checks Inar Tablets at Benha Electronics

    Cairo, 4 June 2013

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mr Atef Helmy along with the Minister of Military Production Lt Gen Reda Hafez and  Qaliobeya Governor Dr Adel Zayed visited today Benha Company for Electronic Industries, an affiliate of the National Authority for Military Production, to check on its product Inar, the first fully manufactured Egyptian tablet.

    This pilot project entails the production of 10 thousand tablets locally manufactured. This preliminary production is to be distributed to Egyptian universities students consecutively.

    Last April, a cooperation protocol for this purpose was signed between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the Ministry of Higher Education on behalf of the Supreme Council of Universities.

    During the tour, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology stressed on the will to carry on the project in order to fulfill the needs of all sectors, on top of which the education sector, especially that there are many other entities who are interested in the new Egyptian tablet.

    The tablet, he further explained, would be distributed starting June 25th with affordable prices. This is to spread technology in the Egyptian society in the future.

    On his way to the plant, Mr Atef Helmy paid a visit to Banha post office. He got acquainted with the workflow and discussed with the employees the most important postal and financial services offered to the public.

    The Minister also visited Banha central exchange (2) where he got to know the working system there and the different services offered to the citizens.

    He also got acquainted with some complaints and stressed on the importance of responding to these critics in order to attain citizensí satisfaction, and on accuracy and efficiency. 

    Minister Atef Helmy also asked about the obstacles that could hinder the working system and the way to overcome them.

    He also praised the Post and Telecom Egypt employees, referring to Telecom Egypt as the leading Egyptian company in the field of communications in both Africa and the Middle East.

    He also hailed the companyís ongoing support to the Ministryís initiatives for spreading ICT and internet in the society.
