Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Mohamed Salem will take part in the 31th meeting of the Executive Bureau of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information Technology Council hosted during the period of 2nd and 3rd February, 2012, in Beirut, Lebanon.
The event is organized by the Business and Economy Group in cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Telecommunications, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
During this round, ministers are to tackle a number of ICT issues on the Arab and international arenas . These issues include: the current situation of the Arabic top-level domains (TLD)s project and Connect Arab Summit.
The visit agenda includes Egypt's participation in the Arab Telecom and Internet Forum to be held on the sidelines of the Executive Bureau of Arab Ministers of Telecommunications and Information Council meeting. The meeting will discuss the required coordination on the Arab level about internet governance.
This year, the forum is featured with the participation of the private sector as well as telecommunication experts.
A number of key subjects on the regional and international levels will be discussed: telecommunications and economic security in view of the Arab Spring, ICT future, broadband technology, cloud computingand future needs and new social media networks versas conventional media, who has authority in the future and socio-economic viewpoint about technology convergence.
Saudi Arabia will preside over the executive bureau for this round. Egypt holds the post of the vice-president of the bureau, which follows up the council's decisions through the Arab permanent committees and its taskforces.
