    ICT Minister Meets EITESAL BoD Members

    Cairo, 2 September 2018

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Egyptian Information, Telecommunications, Electronics, and Software Alliance (EITESAL) Board of Directors (BoD) members, headed by Hazem El Tahawy, at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) premises, in Smart Village, in the presence of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Acting CEO, the Advisor to the ICT Minister for Technology Parks Sherine El-Gendy, and a number of MCIT officials.

    The meeting is within the framework of a series of meetings held by the ICT Minister with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the ICT sector to discuss various visions related to developing the sector.

    During the meeting, Talaat highlighted the significance of these meetings to provide opportunities for constructive communication. He hailed the developments he witnessed during his visit to Borg Al Arab Technology Park, when he met with promising youth and learnt about the programs aimed to support creativity and nurture the technologically talented young people in the technology innovation cluster, established as an initiative launched by ITIDA and managed by an alliance led by EITESAL, consisting of a number of research and academic organizations and companies.

    During the meeting, El Tahawy reviewed EITESAL strategy and its programs implemented in cooperation with ITIDA to improve the efficiency of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the ICT industry, help them to establish presence in international markets, support innovation and entrepreneurship, increase IT exports and provide specialized training programs to build technological capacities.

    EITESAL BoD members highlighted their aspiration to develop a strategy for developing the programming industry along the lines of the electronics designing and manufacturing strategy. They also discussed the most important mechanisms required for developing the electronics industry through implanting this industry, maximizing benefiting from technology parks and building capacities. In this context, Talaat reviewed the ICT sectorís participation in the subcommittees of the ministerial committee that oversees the projects of developing the educational system using smart education systems, where the educational tablet is one of its key elements.

    The meeting also reviewed the programs that are being implemented to deploy EITESAL activities nationwide in order to implement the industry development programs. The meeting also discussed the importance of highlighting the call centers industry and reviewed the main challenges facing SMEs and the most important proposals to address these challenges.
