ITIDA Signs MoU with Egyptian Association for IT Exports on Boosting IT Exporters' Potential

    Cairo, 30 July 2008

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel witnessed today the singing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Egyptian Association for IT Exports.

The agreement aims at building up the potential of the Associationís member companies in the domain of producing, outsourcing and exporting IT services.

The two parties agreed that ITIDA will offer financial support to Egyptian Association for IT Exports over two years to support its institutional structure. According to the agreement, ITIDA will also prop the Associationís projects and activities in the international market through trade missions, marketing activities and bilateral meetings between global companies and the members companies.

The two sides also agreed that ITIDA has the right to assign the Association to carry out activities, programs or IT export projects for ITIDA.

The CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA)Dr. Hazem Abdel-Azim and Egyptian Association for IT Exports Board Chairman Dr. Mohamed Reda co-signed the agreement.

The MoU comes as part of activating the policy of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology undertaken by ITIDA and the initiatives launched for developing and supporting civil society organizations and national companies.

The provided support comes in forms of encouraging IT outsourcing services and software production, value added services (VAS) as well as raising the Egyptian IT companies' competitiveness to become better capable of competing in the international market, which, in turn, helps achieve the one-million dollar exports target by the year 2010.

Dr. Kamel said that positive outcomes of the agreement will shortly appear. Such outcomes, he added, will be derived by MCIT's plans to support and develop the civil society organizations working on IT.

Minister Kamel pointed out to the Association's efforts, which complement those undertaken by the government and represented by ITIDA. He added that the society gathers companies working on this field under its umbrella.

The Association was founded two years ago for uniting the efforts of IT exporters. It involves 80 members from top companies and IT experts.
