    Date published: 17 January 2010

Nile University (NU) is scheduled to host the 19th International Conference on Management of Technology due to be held from 8-11 March, 2010 in Cairo.

Egypt has been selected by International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT) to host the conference.

Entitled “Technology as the Foundation for Economic Growth,” the conference aims to discuss the countries’ strategies as to technological development and the role of technology in boosting the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME)s.

President of NU and Founder and President of IAMOT Dr. Tarek Khalil noted that the four-day conference will tackle more than 250 research papers on means of maximizing the benefit of technology in supporting economic development and how developing counties can make use of the current technological evolution.

NU students established a branch for IAMOT at the university where research papers are presented to committees for assessment, Dr. Khalil said.Researchers and experts can always present their papers to IAMOT.

The conference will be held under the auspices of Minister of Communications Dr. Tarek Kamel. A considerable number of ministers, officials, experts, academics and industry leaders are expected to contribute to the event.

Hosting such a conference in Egypt, Dr. Khalil added, reflects the country’s international status and the progress it has achieved so far in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).

The conference, according to Dr. Khalil, will be organized at an important time. Most of the countries now look for utilizing state-of-the-art technology to push forward their economies and overcome the World Financial Crisis, he explained.

The conference will encompass several sessions and workshops where a number of international experts are expected to participate.

It will also highlight numerous tracks, on top of which are the impact of economy on the technological environment, the role of education and research in technology management, innovation and technology incubators.

In addition, the meeting will shed light on the influence of the technological environment on society, means of transferring technology and marketing it and the expected technological progress in the future.

Moreover, the conference tracks include the convergence of technological strategies in business success, technological theories and their role in world competitiveness, logistics, project management and R&D management, Dr. Khalil concluded.
