    Date published: 20 August 2020

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), is participating in Africa Innovation Challenge 2020, organized by Africa Telecommunication Union (ATU) online on August 20, under the theme: How Africa Can Stay above the Impact of COVID-19 through Innovation. The virtual event also serves as the forum for launching ATU new logo.

The Africa Innovation Challenge 2020 seeks to recognize the disruptive innovations and new business models that have the capacity to change Africa. Through the event, ATU aims to identify and support young innovators who have developed useful applications/innovations in the fight to contain Coronavirus (COVID-19) and possibly other emergency situations in Africa.

As a specialized agency of the African Union in the field of telecommunications, ATU provides a forum for stakeholders involved in ICT to formulate effective policies and strategies aimed at improving access to information infrastructure and services. The Union additionally represents the interests of its members at global decision-making conferences and promotes initiatives aimed at integrating regional markets, attracting investments into ICT infrastructure, and building institutional and human capacity.
