    ITIDA Announces IbTIECar 2019 Winners

    The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), has announced the winners of IbTIECar 2019 competition.

    IbTIECar is an annual competition for university graduation projects, held in cooperation with multinational and local technology companies and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s (MCIT) affiliates.

    Fifteen projects in various trending technology fields, from 11 universities, won cash prizes with a total value of EGP 180,000. The winning teams were also granted the opportunity to join a free three month training in TIEC Accelerator program, in five different governorates, including Giza, Alexandria, Assiut, Mansoura and Minya. This is in addition to sharing their projects within the ICT community.

    ITIDA programs are geared towards building human capital and developing digital skills, to enable young people to harness disruptive technologies and meet the growing demand for these skills, driven by both the local and multinational technology companies investing in Egypt.

    ITIDA also powers a series of initiatives that focus on fostering and stimulating technology innovation and promoting entrepreneurship among youth, to create a generation of entrepreneurs capable of developing innovative digital solutions that address societal challenges.

    The competition featured a number of trending technologies, including blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT) for smart cities, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Extended Reality (XR), mobile applications, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), 5G networks and other communication technologies.

    Sponsors of the competition included Huawei, the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and DELL EMC.

    IbTIECar was first launched in 2012. After its eighth year, in 2019, the competition received applications for 1,114 advanced ideas and 881 advanced projects, 170 projects of which won a total of EGP 1,230,000 cash prizes.
