Jobs and Skills for PwDs Project Closing Ceremony to Hold

    Date published: 8 March 2017
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) will, in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), hold the closing ceremony of the “Jobs and Skills for PwDs with Focus on ICT-Based Solutions” Project -Opportunities and Challenges, under the auspices of the ICT Minister Yasser ElKady on March 9, in Cairo.

The project is implemented in partnership between ILO, UNDP, and MCIT— represented by Egypt Information and Communication Technology Trust Fund (ICT-TF)—where the project targeted qualifying persons with physical and visual disabilities through using ICTs to create decent job opportunities for them.

The ceremony aims to showcase the outcomes and achievements of the project, as well as the exchange of expertise and experience to explore the best practices in the area of support, integration and employment of PwDs using ICTs, focusing on the sectors of tourism and ICTs. The ceremony will also discuss the most important challenges, and means to overcome such challenges via community participation of state institutions and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

This project is within the framework of the state institutions efforts to promote PwDs right to work, and activate comprehensive and sustainable development plans for raising PwDs living level, empowering them and developing their abilities. This is in addition to providing more training and employment opportunities and supporting their integration into the labor market.
