    Egypt Partakes in 36th GITEX Technology Week 2016

    Egypt, represented by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), will participate in the 36th GITEX Technology Week that will take place on October 16-20 at Dubai World Trade Center, UAE. The event will define the latest trends, showcasing products and innovations from across the world. This year, GITEX is bringing together the most innovative, exciting and ambitious tech start-ups to showcase their world changing ideas to an audience of hand-picked international investors.

    With IT spending in the Middle East projected to reach US $212.9 billion in 2016—a 3.7 percent increase from 2015, GITEX Technology Week as the largest regional IT exhibition will play a more significant role in 2016 than ever before.
    GITEX 2016 has launched the most global startup movement with over 400 entrepreneurs, 250 investors and mentors from over 52 countries.

    Participating startups will showcase their concepts, engage in mentor sessions, pitch to win USD 130,000 and learn at the conference sessions by startup heroes.

    The event provides participants with opportunities for staying ahead of the latest innovations from across the world of technology. It helps them create vital connections with fellow industry experts, influencers and senior decision makers to start laying the foundations of the future. The event also aims to discover the innovations most relevant to the industry. It offers a series of expert presentations and product demonstrations powering next step in industry transformation.

    ITIDA is to sponsor 29 Egyptian companies, assist them to promote their services in a preferable manner and provide larger space for them to hold their meetings. Partners will have the ability to present their demos and showcase their latest services through the different partnership packages which are being offered for the first time this year and match all the needs of the different companies.

    To ensure the broadest presence and the strongest impact, Egypt will partake this year with two pavilions in two different locations around GITEX venue. The main pavilion will occupy 408 sqm and will be located in Sheikh Saeed Hall similar to last year and will mainly function as the main gathering area for all the partners and their display units. The second pavilion is dedicated to the startups and will be located in Zabeel Hall.

    The participating Egyptian firms will be divided into three categories; namely, platinum, gold and silver. All of them are assured of a dedicated platform to showcase their respective products and services. they will have special opportunities to meet and greet potential clients and strategic technical, promotional and logistical support.

    The newly established company Silicon Waha is one of the strategic partners for the Egyptian pavilion at the exhibition this year. The company is working with all its stakeholders including the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), ITIDA and the Egyptian New Urban Communities Authority, to implement the national project of spreading Science and Technology Parks across 2nd tier cities aiming at providing a competitive and attractive environment for innovators, entrepreneurs, local businesses, regional and international investors.

    Sico Electronics, which is a leader in the field of electronic devices specializing in manufacturing smartphones, tablets and accessories across its global offices in 26 countries, is also exhibiting as the second strategic partner to Egypt On pavilion.

    Cequens, a primary provider of messaging services via mobile phones and specializes in developing systems of sending and receiving text messages via cloud-based messaging platform, is the Platinum Partner of the Egyptian pavilion, while Microtech, which specializes in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions through cloud computing, is the Gold Partner.

    One of GITEX focused areas this year is start-ups, and as such relevant global initiatives are expected to be launched during the event. More than 400 companies and entrepreneurs from over 60 countries, in addition to 200 investors and experts in the fields of creativity and entrepreneurship, are projected to attend the exhibition. Eight Egyptian start-ups will take part in the event to present their innovative solutions and technological applications.

    For the past years, GITEX has been offering a unique opportunity for Egypt and Egyptian Companies to showcase their newest solutions and technologies and penetrate one of the world’s fastest growing regions. It has enabled new companies to participate in identified trends as well as giving visitors the opportunity to engage, learn and implement the advances of the industry.
