    Dr. Tarek Kamel to Participate in World Economic Forum Meeting in Davos

    Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel is heading for Davos to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2008 due in the Swiss Davos city from 23 27 January.
     
    More than 2500 participants from 88 countries, including 27 countries' presidents, prime ministers and 113 ministers as well as religious scholars, journalists and heads of non-governmental organizations will take part in the five-day event to be held under the motto: "The Power of Collaborative Innovation."
     
    Egypt's high-level delegation includes Minister of Finance Dr. Youssef Boutros Ghali, Minister of Investment Dr. Mahmoud Mohie Eddin and that of Trade and Industry Eng. Rachid Mohamed Rachid.
     
    Leading businessmen constitute more than 60% of participation, 1000 of which are heads of major international companies.  
     
    One of the first day's sessions will be dedicated to discussing the dichotomy of the Middle East, with protracted political conflicts on one side and robust economic growth on the other.
    The session will raise the questions of: What does 2008 hold for the region, politically and economically? What are the prospects for overcoming political divides and for expanding economic growth in the region?
     
    This years annual meeting will focus on five conceptual pillars, namely Business, Economics and Finance, Geopolitics, Science and Technology and Values and Society.
