    IGF-MAG Meeting Holds in Geneva

    Date published: 3 April 2016

The meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) is scheduled to take place on 4-6 April at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting will discuss a number of key issues, including infrastructure, access to the Internet, openness, privacy, general international policies of the Internet and the decision-making mechanisms.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations established the Advisory Group (now referred to as the Multistakeholder Advisory Group - MAG). Its purpose is to advise the Secretary-General on the program and schedule of the Internet Governance Forum meetings. The MAG is comprised of 55 members from governments, the private sector and civil society, including representatives from the academic and technical communities.

The Internet Governance Forum, established by the World Summit on the Information Society in 2006, is the leading global multi-stakeholder forum on public policy issues related to internet governance.
