Egypt, represented by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), will participate for the fifth time in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, an annual world gathering for the mobile industry and related industries, organized by the GSMA, and held on February 22-25 in Barcelona, Spain.

The 2016 MWC program will provide an in-depth coverage of the current and future mobile industry, highlighting specific areas of growth as well as the latest technological developments, next generation services and growth strategies. The four-day program is led by globally-known experts in entrepreneurship and innovation and features conference sessions, workshops, interactive discussions, pre-arranged one-on-one investor meetings and start-up competitions.

ITIDA, this year, will participate with a pavilion area of 124 square meters which will host eight Egyptian exhibiting companies in addition to visiting companies. During the past four years, ITIDA supported the participation of 38 companies with a total return on investment of about 168 million Egyptian Pounds.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and its affiliates are keen to participate in such international exhibitions as part of MCIT strategy to promote Egypt as a regional hub in the field of creativity and innovation and to support Egyptian ICT companies and entrepreneurs to export to overseas markets.

Mobile World Congress 2016 will witness the twentieth celebration which will present prizes for best 2015 mobile applications, services and technologies, shedding light on the significance of mobile communications and the positive role it plays globally.

The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, uniting nearly 800 operators with more than 250 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset and device makers, software companies, and Internet companies, as well as organizations in adjacent industry sectors.
