TIEC Announces Opening Registration for FabCat Service

    Date published: 13 October 2015
TIEC has announced the opening of the registration for the new round of fabrication catalyst service (FabCat) that aims to enable the electronics industry as a current strategic goal for Egypt and in particular for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).

It also targets supporting the fabrication of electronic chips designed by Egyptian micro and small enterprises (MSEs) and academic university projects.

The project serves MSEs and the fabrication of innovative designs is supported to provide MSEs a better opportunity to showcase their products in the market, helping them to grow.

The projects also attend to academic university projects where the project advisor is encouraged to propose real-world industrial projects for students. This enhances match making between student capacity and industry needs and hence improves employment opportunities in local and multinational companies working in the field of integrated circuit manufacturing.

The FabCat service is announced in annual rounds, two rounds for MSEs and one round for governmental universities. In each round, TIEC announces the service for funding the fabrication of electronics design using CMOS/MEMS technologies for both Industry and Academia. The deadline of the current round is October 18.

The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) has been launched in 2010 at Smart Village, and is affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology(MCIT). It aims to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in ICT for the benefit of national economy. Its vision is to become a leading regional hub and world class center for ICT based innovations and entrepreneurship .
