    MoU between ICANN, ITI, NTRA

    Date published: 23 December 2014

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Information Technology Institute (ITI), the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Accordingly, a workshop on the Domain Name Systems (DNS) will hold during March 15 – 19 at ITI premises. It targets establishing a Domain Name System Entrepreneurship Center (DNS-EC) to foster DNS sector in Africa and the Middle East.

This is a technical workshop, made of lectures and hands-on lab work to teach DNS and DNS Security Extensions targeted at operators who are responsible for the DNS services in their organization.

According to this MoU, ICANN will support the establishment of the center by providing expertise necessary to develop local capacities. NTRA will oversee the project and invite relevant local parties to contribute to its implementation.

The MoU aims to develop and certify local expertise, improve basic DNS awareness and education for policy makers and law enforcement, help in making DNS informational material available in key languages in Africa and the Middle East and lend expertise to Africa and the Middle East to support the DNS industry in the region.
